{"id":2251,"date":"2012-01-12T14:31:06","date_gmt":"2012-01-12T14:31:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/laps-rietveld.nl\/?p=2251"},"modified":"2015-04-22T11:00:22","modified_gmt":"2015-04-22T11:00:22","slug":"landfall-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/laps-rietveld.nl\/?p=2251","title":{"rendered":"Landfall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the project <em>Landfall<\/em>, a large-scale art project in the public space of Amsterdam Zuidas commissioned by the <a title=\"Virtueel Museum Zuidas\" href=\"http:\/\/www.virtueel-museum.nl\/nl\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\">Virtual Museum Zuidas<\/a>, the artist duo <a title=\"Hiryczuk\/ Van Oevelen\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hiryczukvanoevelen.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hiryczuk\/ Van Oevelen<\/a> (France, 1977\/the Netherlands 1974) unravels the ambiguity of our spatial surroundigns. In a complex photographic installation the new territory of Surtsey, the youngest island in the world that emerged after a volcanic eruption off the south coast of Iceland, and Zuidas, a former marshland changed by human intervention into the new international business district of the Netherlands, are brought togehter in an unexpected way.<\/p>\n<p>This publication takes the project <em>Landfall<\/em> as a starting point for utopian, artistic, critical, philosophical and poetical reflections on large-scale urbanization, the complicated relationship between man and nature, islands and the artificial landscape.
