Sculpture in the Expanded Field

Research based on a text by Rosalind Krauss

PDF

In the autumn of 2005, Jeroen Boomgaard together with Thomas Lange and Eva Fotiadi from the UvA, offered a working group to explore the various ways artists have transgressed the boundaries of art production and the exhibition space since the nineteen-sixties. The research was based on a text from the nineteen-seventies by American theoretician, Rosalind Krauss. The participants examined a wide range of movements dating from the last quarter of the twentieth century and concluded their research with a paper on the work of a contemporary artist. Rietveld students were asked to present their own work within the context of the subject.
